Super Editor (and author in his own right) Eric Searleman passed on these links this morning:

…all sure to bore the more comics-oriented among you. My apologies.

- The entrelac practice above was meant to be a little felted change purse, but I’m so smitten with it, I think I might buy some more yarn and make it a proper scarf. Tough call, though — the yarn is not cheap. And it’s not like I’m in need of either another scarf or another knitting project (I have a long list of baby knits I mean to start). Hm.
- I desperately want to see this. I’m not even a little bit kidding. (Thank you, Shena!)
- Knitters: are Phildar patterns easily available in the states?
- Crafty kids: Anyone know a good source for 1/8″ wool felt?
- Isn’t this a lovely blanket? I’m considering something like this as an option for a baby blanket. (One option being not to knit one as I’ve done two and they tend to take a long time and get boring near the end. But maybe knitting a bunch of square wouldn’t be as dull as knitting one large blanket, hm?)(Here’s another option, this one knit in my beloved Noro Kureyon. Of course, it occurs to me that Kureyon is 100% wool and therefore not machine washable — not a good idea for a baby blanket afterall. I suppose I could do it in an alternate yarn, but I think it’s the Kureyon that makes it.) (This one‘s cute, too. You know how I love polka dots.)
- We’re closing up shop at NattyMinx.com, I think. None of us has the time to maintain it. Alas! We’ve got until May 5th to decide, but I’m pretty sure it’s going the way of the dodo. (Is that spelled correctly?)
- Okay, back to work — duty calls and all that.
In anticipation of the first collection and the start of the second volume, I put up a Casanova group on Facebook.
If you’re not on the Casanovanauts mailing list yet, you’ll want to sign up. Send an e-mail to casanovaquinn A T gmail D O T com with WHEN IS CASANOVA QUINN? written in the subject line.

Rich Amtower just got back from Japan and was kind enough to bring back this ad for the new Sexy Voice and Robo TV show. Apparently the ads are everywhere.
Eric Searleman writes to point out that Anime News Network has seen fit to revisit the book in light of the new show. Eric Carlo Santos calls Sexy Voice and Robo “The Best Manga I’ve Ever Read.”
Sweet.
If you missed Carlos’ original review for ANN back in December 2005, you can find it right here.
This is my favorite part:
The final touch to the terrific storytelling and artwork is a translated script that’s direct, colorful, and always aware of what the characters mean to say. It even squeezes in some wordplay without seeming forced—a challenging feat in any Japanese-to-English translation. You can almost hear how the characters talk, from Robo’s fanboyish wheeze to Nico’s arsenal of sexy voices.
Ahem.
From Publisher’s Weekly:
The second [24seven] anthology grew out of the first one, said [Ivan] Brandon, who compiled the book as editor and wrote a few stories for it. “It was sort of a haphazard thing. The contacts that I had hunted down the first time have expanded and beyond that a lot of people I look up to and respect have approached me.” Once again the book will offer stories of robots against an urban backdrop. But this time the subject matter has expanded–a bit. “A lot of the people gravitated toward robot characters inspired somewhat by robots in my own previous works but in this case it has a much wider context,” Brandon said. “The creators have completely taken any preconceptions away and re-interpreted the basic idea of urban robots from scratch in a wide range of different direction–anything from an underwater robotic city to sentient robot dogs playing poker.”
Because Ivan is gracious and kind, I am getting to work with Andy MacDonald again for part two.
If you haven’t picked up volume one, it’s still available in the Amazon store for as little as $10.99.
I haven’t seen Inside the World of Comic Books yet, but Eric Searleman (also prominently featured) tells me that Fraction and Joe Casey have a chapter unto themselves.
Check out my nifty new desktop wallpaper featuring Shaun White in some bizarre flying freeze frame shot that I dug up on the internets (with some search tips from my benevolent spouse).
Anyway, Jason Aaron suggests that if I were really cool I’d use this instead. Well played, Aaron.
(Fraction used to have some Casanova wallpapers posted to his site, but they appear to have been taken down. Bummer.)
Who else out there has wallpaper posted for their books? Ivan? Andy? Steve? Spill.
