Oh, And…
I’m coming to terms with the fact that the cold weather is going to be here before I’m back in my size 2s. Now, I’m too cheap smart to spring for a “quality” transition wardrobe (I’d much rather save that money and buy some nice items when I’m back to feeling like myself again), but I’m going to need some warm clothes in the coming months. Courtney sent some — I’ve got jeans now, hallelujah! — and some of my sweaters will still fit. I’m thinking I’m going to need some warm tights, a couple of warm nursing tops (do such things exist?), a pair of trousers and a coat that will accommodate boobs.
Coat-wise, I’d like something warm — but not bulky — in a red, green or blue, probably. Black if I have to, but I try to keep my black-wearing to a minimum. Red or green plaid would make me very happy. Of course, I don’t want to pay much for it at all. Thoughts?
(I’m adjusting back to the darker hair color too, which is throwing me off. I loved wearing chocolate brown with the red hair. Not as sure about it now…)
I’m thinking I’ll start looking at Old Navy, La Redoute and maybe TJ Maxx. Any suggestions?

Ross’ and Burlington Coat Factory.
Nordstrom’s Outlet is a sometimes option – good prices on quality stuff, but not as thrifty as perhaps other locations.
Hit the outlet malls or just layer on a bunch of hoodies for the time being.
i still have a coat for you! baby blue with fur collar ill bring it next time i swear:)
I took Liam to Old Navy all the time for the first few months. He would come in the dressing room with me and tell me if I should get the red shirt or the grey one. Thank God, cause I was too hormonal to make an actual decision!
I was going to mention Burlington Coat Factory. Dunno if you have one in your area, but this coat is almost cheap enough to order and send back via the mail if it’s not warm enough or doesn’t fit.
JC Penny Outlet is at 75th St & I-35.
Dillard’s Outlet is in Metro North Mall (just north of the river, off I-35).
Cargo Largo is at I-70 and Noland Rd. SERIOUSLY if you want to go to Cargo Largo, I’ll totally want to go, because I could spend HOURS in that place.
Hi it’s me again. I just feel an obligation to mention that Burlington Coat Factory has a sh!@!y return policy– they really are kind of evil that way. It’s has to be strictly within 14 days of purchase, and they will ONLY give store credit, they never put any money back on your card, so if you wanted to exchange your purchase for something cheaper, you get the cheaper item plus store credit, not your money back. (just a pet peeve of mine)
My girlfriend’s really fond of Steve and Barry’s. I don’t think anything there is over $20, and she describes the clothing as ‘cute’.
It’s me again. I bought this coat today from Target… they say it’s ‘orange glow’ in color, but really it’s a perfect bright yellow-based red Red Red Red!
Rob, I just hit Steve and Barry’s for the first time Saturday. Thanks for reminding me of that place! Sadly, I couldn’t find anything there that fit me well (I got one sweater, but I suspect that was a mistake) HOWEVER, I got two t-shirts and a hoodie for Fraction and I adore them.
Lauren, I tried on that coat at The Gap! It was too long-waisted for me, but very, very cute.
Rachel, I spent more money on clothes for Henry at Old Navy than I did for me! They have some fabulous infant togs…
T2 – NORDSTROM’S OUTLET?!
*jealous*
I just did a quick search for the Nordstrom Rack nearest you. Apparently, there isn’t one within 100 miles of KC,MO. Literally.
I swear, if you come out again next year, Susan and I will not drag you around while we buy furniture. You were a trooper and your input was appreciative, but I felt bad that we didn’t get to do more fun stuff or time for me to actually cook a proper meal.
If you want, we can actually go to a Nordstrom Rack – there are at least 6 within 50 miles and 9 within 75 miles, including SD.
