This Can’t Be Good

For three days I’ve felt nauseas. Today I started burping uncontrollably. My burps smell of sulfur.

Am I dying inside?

UPDATE: Went to the doctor this morning.  His best guess is that I may have developed lactose intolerance, which is apparently not uncommon in your 30s/40s.  Advises me to keep a food diary.  The other possibility is a stomach virus, but he doesn’t think that’s it, particularly because I’m feeling better today and, interestingly, haven’t had any dairy today.  Going to cut out milk products for a week, then reintroduce them and see if I get sick.  If that doesn’t solve the problem I’ll go back to the doctor’s office.  Kind of a bummer as I’m a fan of all things dairy (and I’m breastfeeding!) but it could certainly be worse.

I think this photo shoot was his own personal nightmare.

That said, the COMPLEX article is now online here.

I believe I have two knitting projects in this book, which according to Amazon, is currently available for pre-order and should be released in March.

I *think* my pinwheel baby blanket (made for Tigerlily Kawasaki) and my pink and green meathead hat both made the cut.

They're Coming to Take Me Away
Haven’t had the time or energy to keep up with the blog (or email or anything else) much lately. Quick hits:

  • 30 Days of Night: Eben & Stella tpb is out, I believe. Did anyone pick it up?
  • Fraction’s got two books out this week and Fabio just posted the cover to Casanova #14.
  • I really want to go visit the orchid cave. (I am a giant nerd – I also wish I could attend the orchid expo this weekend. Alas.)
  • HL went to the doctor for his 2 month check up on Monday — all is well.
  • We joined a new gym! I’m going to a Pilates mat class this morning. Er… this is probably only of interest to me, but I haven’t really worked out in, oh, almost A YEAR, so I’m absurdly excited about it.
  • AMAZING pole dance routine (thanks, Tobi!)
  • Handmade baby photo album arrived from Merry and Alex this week and blew my mind – it’s a wonderful compliment to the “Henry, No!” book that Terry made. Sam sent an Flip Video. Eric sent a sketch for “Henry, No!” Viz sent a precious little outfit. Janet sent a Bruce Lee onesie. Did I ever tell you about Kathryn’s handknit sweater?? How about the skull sweater that Jane B. made him? The set from Adrian? The list goes on and on and on. It’s… unbelievable.  Fraction and I were talking last night about it.  It’s not the stuff — though the stuff is awesome; it’s the love.  Having an infant is difficult — beautiful, exciting, touching, unbelievable, but also difficult.  Through those difficult hours we feel so loved and supported by you.  That matters.
  • Okay, I’m off to the gym.

  • Big congratulations to Laurenn and Alex on their engagement! Team Married™ welcomes you.
  • The TOTAL IMMERSION guy is doing a swim clinic in Kansas City in January.  I want to go sooo bad, but it’s $500.  $450 if you do it with a friend.  I might  be able to get somebody from Team in Training to sign up with me, but ouch, that’s a lot of money.  And I’m trying to pinch pennies right now so that we can switch to the fancy gym that has childcare.  I may have to sit this one out and hope he comes back.
  • Keep Calm.  (Thanks, Old Aunt Amy!)
  • Welcome to the world, Eleanor Mann!  Congratulations, Madeline and Merlin.  (I’m stupidly excited about Merlin’s kid and our kid being so close in age — not because I’m a creepy stalker — well, okay, not JUST because I’m a creepy stalker — but also because it means he’ll be addressing productivity and child-rearing issues just as we’re trying to figure these things out.  So… I am both a stalker and a N3rd.  But also?  Happy.  Yay, babies.)
  • More ups: Harold talks to Publisher’s Weekly about Thunder Road.
  • So, I downloaded the new NetNewsWire and to my delight, it found my license number (the one I thought I lost with the laptop) and registered it for me.  So now I’m trying to decide whether to switch back to it from the Google reader I’m using now.  I really like the STAR and SHARE features on the Google reader (and the amazing limitless search function that I don’t even understand) but the interface doesn’t please me.   Hm.  Droob?  Thoughts?
  • This thread on Fraction’s board amuses me.
  • I still owe 9,000 people thank you notes.  I’m giving up on writing most of them by hand and planning to send e-mail… soon.
  • Rebecca and Ryan’s wedding was gorgeous and we were delighted to be there.  I cried.  (Duh.)  Also?  Incredibly grateful to Kara and Tony for watching HL and allowing us a night out.
  • Okay, my dad and step-mom are visiting today and I have some mad cleaning to do so that’s all for now.  Later!
