In the spirit of Warren Ellis’ Who I Am And Where I Am posts, this post.

I’ll skip the “Who I Am” part because my bio is over there on the left in the sidebar. See it? Cool. Now look up at the top–see the ABOUT link? That’s my CV. I need to update it, I know. Ignore the FAQ. I haven’t filled that in yet. (That’ll likely cover how I got into comics, how adapting manga works, what it’s like being married to Matt Fraction and why I’d prefer you contact Fraction through Marvel as opposed to through me.)

Now the fun part! Where am I?

In real life (“IRL”), I’m in Portland, OR, which is every bit as awesome as you imagine. We moved our family here in 2009 and after traveling extensively for most of our lives (I’ve lived in Ohio, California, Texas, Japan, Nebraska, Germany and New York. Fraction’s list is similar) we both feel like we finally found home.

On TEH INTARWEBS, I make my home in the following places:

• Twitter. Easiest place to find me. It’s one of the few social applications that I find more useful than annoying. I’m able to read it when I want to, ignore it when I’m working and I don’t feel like I need to scroll back and “get caught up” on Twitter, which makes it pretty much guilt free. I should probably mention that I “tweet” more than the average bear and it often has to do with my family life, so, you know, I may or may not be your gal. But hey! Good news! I am completely unoffended by folks who unfollow when I get chatty.
• Facebook. I’ve got a Facebook page, but I don’t really do more than post links to reviews and interviews. I have a personal Facebook page as well, but I use it to keep up with friends and family, so I don’t generally accept friend requests unless we know each other IRL. No offense, just trying to keep things manageable.
• Amazon Author Page. If you’re a trade paperback (“tpb”) person, links to my books are pretty easy to find via this Amazon author page. I’ve got permission to tweak/update it, but have done very little, as I just haven’t had the time and, again, I’m not sure how useful it actually is.
• Midtown Comics. If you’re more of a traditional format comics person, you can find your local comic shop via this handy link right here. If your local comic shop isn’t all that local or inviting, I recommend Midtown Comics for mail order. Can’t be the prices, either. That link should take you directly to my books.
• Goodreads. My Goodreads author page. I keep meaning to use Goodreads to track my own reading, but I haven’t been able to make a habit of it. Have you? The listmaker and obsessive tracker in me loves the idea. The overworked mother in me thinks it’s just one more thing to do. I don’t need one more thing to do.
• Ravelry. I used to knit, before I had kids. I hope to knit again one day. Until then, my Ravelry account kind of feels like the fossil remains of a past life. Love Ravelry, though. Jess & Casey are good people.
• Jinxworld! Aaaand finally, I now have my own forum over at Brian Bendis’s Jinxworld (Thanks Brian! Thanks, Dan!), which is pretty much what inspired this post. John-Paul McCarthy sent me a message on Facebook that launched a conversation about productivity practices for creatives and I was looking for a place to open the conversation up. This is a bit of an experiment–with the exception of one private board that I dearly love, I haven’t been a regular member of an online forum since…. since the WEF, maybe? MLF? SSQ? It’s been aaaaaaages. And between the kids, work and travel, I don’t have the time to spend online that I used, to. But that said, Jinxworld has a nifty iPhone app that means I can surf or post while I’m rocking babies or waiting in line, so it’s not exactly stealing time from my work day. Anyway, I want to give it a shot and I’d love it if you came by and said hi or maybe even contributed to the conversation.
• If you’re into deep cuts, you might also find me on This Tumblr, That Tumblr, Pinterest, Last.fm or Delicious, but I don’t make much use of any of them.

Okay, that’s it for now. I’ve got a little boy recovering from a tonsillectomy who desperately wants my attention. Later!

So here’s a software/workflow question:

I’m on a mac.

I would like to be able to group different kinds of files into folders (or a larger document) for easy reference. I know there is a way to do this–probably multiple ways to do this–that I’m too clueless to be aware of. So… for instance, we’ve got a trip planned for March. (And another for May and another for June and another for July…you get the idea.) I’ve got emails, itineraries, links, packing lists, etc. Right now, the emails are just in my archive with a billion other emails. The documents are easy enough to organize in folders, but links…?

I’m tempted to open OmniOutliner documents called “Trip A” or whatever and attach emails and whatnot to it, but I wonder if there’s a better way.

(I should also probably mention that I use OmniFocus as a task manager.)

Similarly… Osborn. I’ve got art and emails and drafts–there are now a bazillion emails w/r/t this project and they’re all in one big OSBORN folder in mail and when I need to find something in particular, it’s not exactly at my fingertips.

How do you all organize these kinds of things?
